There are a number of motels
in Pasadena, several within walking distance of Caltech (e.g., search
for "motels" using the Google Map below). Many local motels offer
discounted rates to Caltech visitors (usually available by phone if
you ask, but not via the internet). The closest motels to the Cahill
Center (in alphabetical order) are:

Parking at Caltech:
Parking is available in the underground parking garage located under
the Athletic Field adjacent to the Cahill Center (see map below).
Access to this garage is via the road running beside the Tennis Courts
from California Blvd, see this map.
Parking costs $6 for all
day Friday (free Saturday), payable at the Pay Station vending machine
on the B1 level in the southeast corner of the garage. Park in any
unreserved parking space.
Airport Transportation:
For those flying into the Los Angles area for ROM-GR,
several modes of transportation are available from the airports to
Pasadena:
Public Transportation via bus and light rail connections is
available from LAX for about $8.25 (each way). Shared ride van companies (e.g.
Super Shuttle or
Prime Time Shuttle) provide transportation from several of
the local airports to the Caltech campus or any of the local motels
for about $30 (each way) from LAX (more from the other airports).
Reservations can be made in advance (e.g. via the internet), but
reservations from LAX to Pasadena are not required. Catch the Super
Shuttle or Prime Time vans at one of the designated stops just outside
the baggage claim areas. Shuttle2LAX also offers transportation to
Pasadena area destinations from LAX for $20 (each way). Book
reservations for
Shuttle2LAX in advance on line.
Internet Access:
Wireless Internet access will be available during the
meeting for
ROM-GR participants. Information about how to
connect will be provided at the meeting.
Local Restaurants:
There are many restaurants located within walking distance of
the Caltech campus. See this
