Overview

I am a graduate student studying theoretical cosmology in the Theoretical Astrophysics Including Relativity (TAPIR) group at Caltech. My advisor is Marc Kamionkowski. Currently, my research focuses on inflation and its imprints on the cosmic microwave background, but in the recent past I have also worked on alternate theories of gravity and halo merger theory. A more detailed description of my research may be found here. If all goes according to plan, I should leave Caltech with a Ph.D. in physics in June 2009.

My path to Caltech started with my first physics class at the Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center in my hometown of Kalamazoo, MI. I then went to Princeton, where I majored in physics and decided to specialize in theoretical cosmology. After graduating in 2003, I jumped over the pond for a year and earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics at Cambridge University on a Churchill Scholarship. I arrived in Pasadena in the fall of 2004, and I've been trying to get over my fear of LA freeways ever since.
