Hawaii Pictures!

December 19-25, 2007

Kilauea crater.

Steam vents. It was cold and windy up there but the vents were good for warming one's hands.

The floor of Kilauea crater.

Annika proudly poses with some rocks.

Another view of the crater with some steam vents down below.

Rainforest.

More rainforest.

Tropical girl!

Sulfur deposits.

Mountain stream.

Akaka Falls. No still picture can do it justice.

Just a small part of the falls.

Umauma Falls.

The rock cliffs at the end of Waipi'o valley.

Open ocean.

Mauna Kea as seen from Waimea.

From the hotel in Kailua-Kona at night ...

... and in daytime.

I got splashed while taking this photo.

An old lava flow near Kilauea.

This arch may not last very long.

Annika was excited to see the petroglyphs.

I'm glad the trails were marked because one could get lost out here. It was like Mordor from Lord of the Rings.

The nene is Hawaii's state bird.
