• Arizona. A small canyon seen late in the day.
• California. This is a desert in San Bernardino County.
• California. Mountains to the east of the Los Angeles basin.
• California. Los Angeles was my home for four years. In a way, it still is.
• California. The morning sunlight reflected off the Pacific Ocean. The coast is that of Los Angeles.
• California. This region is just west of Palm Springs. The valley that you see here acts as a channel for air moving in from the coast, thereby creating very high wind speeds. These have been tapped to generate electricity.
• California. A Boeing 767 is parked at a gate at Los Angeles International Airport. The truck in front of it is carrying food for use on the jet's 5.5-hour flight to New Jersey.
• California. More mountains.
• California. The Tuolomne Meadows in Yosemite National Park.
• California. The abandoned gold-mining town of Bodie.

• Illinois. This is Springfield, the state capital. The prominent freeway at left is Interstate 55.
• Michigan. Grand Rapids.

• Minnesota. The Mississippi River in Minneapolis, looking downstream.

• Nebraska. This picture shows Omaha, viewed from the north. The large river at left is the Missouri River; faintly visible in the distance is the Platte River (it appears more or less horizontal). The airport is clearly visible. Note that the territory on the left side of the Missouri River is in Iowa. (Technically, so is a small part of the region on the right side of the river; can you locate it?)
• Nevada. The prominent road at center is Interstate 515. This image was taken from about 10 km southeast of Las Vegas, looking away from the city.

• Lake Erie. There appear to be chunks of ice floating in the lake. I am not sure whether this spot is technically in the USA or Canada.
• Atlantic Ocean. Some clouds; this picture was taken at roughly 53 degrees N and 25 degrees W.
