20th Pacific Coast Gravity Meeting:
|
The Meeting will take place in Room 201, in the East Bridge Building of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. These are instructions on getting to Caltech; if you are flying into the Los Angeles Area, you can use SuperShuttle or Prime Time Shuttle (they will take you to Caltech for the reduced hotel rate).
Once you are here, you can refer to these Campus maps. East Bridge is building 33: you will use the entrance just opposite Millikan Library (building 32), the tallest building on Campus.
On Friday (Mar 26) and Saturday (Mar 27) PCGM participants can park in any unassigned spaces (unmarked, or marked "visitor"), in any of the Caltech lots or structures, shown in this map. Please put this placard in a visible position behind your windshield.
The parking structures 123 and 124 are perhaps the most convenient, since the Meeting is in building 33; the parking lot just across California Blvd. from building 33 is currently closed due to construction. Parking in the streets around the Caltech campus is limited to two hours. On Friday, try to arrive early to secure a spot; on Saturday, there should be no problem.
Blocks of room have been reserved at these nearby motels and hotels, for check-in on Thursday (Mar 25) and check-out on Saturday (Mar 27) or Sunday (Mar 28). Please mention the Caltech PMA Department and the Pacific Coast Gravity Meeting when reserving to get the negotiated group rate. The rooms will be held only until the release dates shown below.

Refreshments will be provided in Rooms 112 and 114, E. Bridge, before the morning sessions, and at coffee breaks. On the evening of Friday March 26, all attendees are invited to a party hosted by Kip Thorne and Carolee Winstein at their Pasadena home (bring swimming suits if you wish to relax in the jacuzzi).
Individual participants are responsible for other meals. For Friday lunch, we suggest that you walk to one of the pleasant Caltech Cafeterias (Chandler, Avery, buildings 52 and 99 on the Campus map) or cafes (Red Door, building 51 or The Cafe at Broad, behind buildings 96 and 74. For all other lunch and dinners, many options are available in Pasadena.

While only a very limited number of workstations will be available to PCGM Participants, we will set up a room with ethernet ports and cables for your use, so be sure to bring your laptops if you want to check e-mail and download files. In addition, we can arrange for wireless connectivity within Bridge Building: if you wish to use this, please let us know your network card MAC address at the time of registration.
